Monday Merriments

HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY!!
AUSSIE, AUSSIE, AUSSIE, OI! OI! OI!
G'DAY MATE!!

I will be thankful today for the fact that Australia Day and Chinese New Year fall on the 26th of January 2009. It's going to make Monday all that more interesting as cultures collide, assimilate and meld into one another- something Australia is still relatively famous for: its multiculturalism. I'm completely patriotic and I'm so happy that I can still partake of CNY goodies (if anyone wants to gift me with ang pao, go right ahead). I am blessed to be born of this country and I believe that if Australia asked it of me, I'd fight for it. I'm so blessed to have been born Asian because we are the schizzle as a race really. We'll always look this good =D

I'm merry today on Monday because it's a public holiday. I'm blessed today because God has blessed me in that I've never endured racism in my life. -sodabug

I am thankful for:

- My race. Being Chinese meant being born into a heritage and a history that is very rich. Also, foreseeing that China will become one of the greatest superpower countries in the world, I'm glad that I can speak their language, or at least fit into the country. (FOBs not included)

- My country. Because places aren't that far, and because well, we've got a good government.

- My family. Because after the CNY reunion dinner tonight, we sat around in the living room of my grandma's place and shared thanksgiving and prayer items, and then prayed for each other. That is a tradition I want to keep, as much as it seemed so awkward to do so with your real blood-related family.

- Chinese New Year. For extra money.

- Australia Day. For existing, to become a place I had headed to and which has changed my life. -ange
